So it has been 12 weeks since my last relaxer. It feels like it has been much longer. All I want to do is cut my hair. But I can’t because I promised myself I would wait at least 7-8 months and reevaluate then. My original goal was to transition for 12-18 months. But my patience is growing thin along with my relaxed ends.
I think I have finally gotten a hair regimen nailed down. And have all the products I think I am going to need and use as a transition-er. I will do a post on my regimen and products I currently use. It will probably be in the form of a video just to make it easier to get out. but I will post it here as well.
I was talking to my grandpa the other day and told him I was going to cut my hair short, and his response was a flat out No. I was rather surprised. But My grandpa is very into looks. Our family has good genes and he is very proud of that. And long hair has always been in our family. But once I explained to him the damage that has occurred and how it will help me to grow my hair thicker and longer like it used to be then he was somewhat okay with it.
I do have to say, since I have not put another relaxer in my hair, my scalp is so much healthier. I used to have an issue with itching and scabs and sometimes bleeding and pusing but I haven’t had to deal with any of the in the last, at least, 10 weeks. That right there gives me incentive and motivation to continue to go natural. I thought I just had some bad scalp disease but apparently it was my scalp reacting to the relaxers. I rarely have an itch in my scalp. I am worried about breakage at the line of demarcation though. But I know that just comes with the territory of transitioning. I just need to be more gentle with my hair.
